Battery powered vac recommendation?

Thinking of buying one of those battery powered vacs.

So often there's a bit of mess, and it's just bother to get the Henry out. Im thinking a little hand held battery one would solve that.

I guess they all have filters that block?

I have the milwaukee battery system, so was looking at the milwaukee m18cv but am dubious of expensive filters needing replacing all the time. Things like ash from round the fire kill those sorts of filters quickly I think.


So, any pointers, or just get the milwaukee m18cv and accept having to buy £7 filters all the time?

Following as I had the dewalt one and couldn’t fault it. Changed platform to Milwaukee now so looking to get the same as above soon.

Nope, it’s cheaper to kill and replace a 30 quid Henry in the workshop

I have got the little bosch one.
It's a cyclone type thing so no filters (I don't think)
Works well enough. I have been impressed enough with it that I would probably get the bigger version if I got offered one.

I have an old handheld Ryobi and it is useful for the kind if work you are looking at but the filter is a letdown as it blocks quickly on the likes of brick dust etc. I would like to replace it with something a little better that has a hose and a better filtration system.

Edit: I just checked the Ryobi range and remember why I did not go for the bigger cordless version, it is not that much smaller than the Earlex workshop vacuum.

Workshop would kill a handheld quickly. I have one of these, amoung others, and I get sick of empying it -

A handheld would be somewhat under capacity.

Yeah, in case you didn't get from the tone of my previous mail, they're worse than useless.

If you want somthing similar that works, get one of those cheap cyclone sepparators off eBay and stick it on top of a (ridgid) container (30 ltr drum or the like)

Sure, would be no good for hot stuff, but then neither is the other thing with its plastic hoses.

I have one of the cyclones in the workshop before a Henry and last time I checked the Henry bag (after months of use) it was 100% empty.

This was sucking up fine alloy swarf, but I've been milling wood recently which creates much finer dust, so I'll be interested to see how the Henry bag is looking now. If it's still completely empty (which I doubt it will be) I'll be even more impressed.

A handheld would be super useful for the smaller stuff in the workshop.

Anyway, I have a Dyson v11, brilliant. Filter is washable.

Not in budget? A shark.

Black Friday is just around the corner, last year Dyson did £100 off.

Wouldn't consider any others.

Strange that, we had one of those ash can things from Lidl which sort of worked as a pre filter for the vacuum when using it as a dust extractor for the sander, it works great now that I have screwed one of the cyclone separators to the top which as you say came from ebay, twenty quid or so.
