Bead blasting Pressure pot questions

Help I'm new and a bit out of my depth on these things.

This is my first post on here but i thought I'd jump straight in the deep end

This may be a bit off topic for a welding forum but i've seen a few mentions of Blasting on here.... so here's hoping....

I spray motorbikes for a living and i want to be able to clean up wheels and other bits and pieces without the need to take them elsewhere and wait for them to bead blast the items

I have purchased a vacublast cabinet and an unknown make of pressure pot.

What i need to know is how to plumb in the pressure pot to combine foot pedal etc.

As i say this is all new to me and I need a few tips and pointers in the right direction

here are a few pics of the items... what do i need to connect to where?

This is the basic layout for a blasting pot. Air in at the top and air/media mixture out of the bottom.

Your pot looks like it is fitted with a pop-up valve. This closes the hole in the top of the pot when it is pressurised, when you switch off it opens and allows media to fall from the cabinet into the pot.

The foot pedal usually controls the air into the system. the mixture is adjusted with the valve at the bottom of the pot. The bypass valve is normally kept fully open. Close this momentarily to get the media flowing in the first place and to shift any blockage at the bottom of the pot.

And a big thanks to rtbcomp, that diagram was the thing
that made me realise where I was going wrong

I was trying to plumb in the pressure pot and still keep all the plumbing for the syphon system (muppet )

All I need now is a length of blast hose, weld up the adapter plate and keep the fingers crossed

If you can't get some proper blast hose car heater hose will do at a push, try to get thick walled rubber rather than plastic.

I haven't compared the performance of the proper stuff vs. heater hose, but blast hose is three times the price.

Resurrecting an old thread, just got one of those chinese 10gall pots £40 new plus £20 delivery.
Is there a gun available rather than use the 1/4 turn valve to regulate the media?
Will use in conjunction with existing sand blast tank and acquired last night a wet and dry vac on vat free day at Machine Mart.
Dont mind welding extractor tubes etc on the tank now i have just got a s/h Butters AW160.

Don't use the nozzle valve to regulate the flow - use it for on/off and turn it smartly. They don't last very long as it is and using it to set the flow will wear it out in no time.

Use the pressure setting to set the airflow and the valve at the bottom of the pot to set the mixture. The latter is VERY sensitive, give it between 5 and 15 seconds to settle down.

Northern Tools do a trigger operated gun, although I've never used one.

Thanks had it two days and havent tried it yet.
Need to redo the workshop layout and i aint looking forward to it.

Did see some where nozzles £70 suggeting these cheaper ones wear out rapidly. I reckon the standard blast cabinet suction feed guns wont last 5 mins on a pot.

Those suction guns work on a completely different principle and won't work with a pot.

I use tungsten carbide nozzles from ACE Engineering, cost about £15 - do a search on here, I think I've posted how to make them fit.
