Bead roll in 2mm walled Stainless pipe

Looking for a cheap way to get a nice looking bead roll on the end of this pipe.

304 stainless, 2mm wall thickness

without a bead roller (and i would think a pretty heavy duty one too) i cant think of a way to do that...what size bead do you want?

nothing major, even a 1mm will do. Its used on a Turbo Car, so just a little measure to help keep the hose on

long winded, but weld a bead round it..

tack weld a 2.4mm tig welding rod around the point where you want the bead.

2mm stainless is thick to use them, but Google 'mole grip bead roller'

http://www.earls.co.uk/earls/accessories/tools/beadingtools.html those might work, but not sure its going to be possible to bead 2mm stainless without some pretty expensive gear...........I can do aluminum with a cheap ROC roller, but it wouldnt touch stainless.

I tried welding a bead....But it was'nt even

doens't really need to be, as long as it's straight enough that it allows the clamp on. you're not sealing against it, it's only to hold the hose on, and give the clamp something to block against.

What about cutting a thin ring of the same pipe off, heating it up and see if it expands enough to place back over the end of the pipe?

Only way you are going to do that cheaply is to turn a groove into the pipe, and fit some sort of wire circlip into the groove. Would work no problem on straight pipes, but might be impossible to turn groove into bends...........

going to pretty much cut in in half...Then I have enough for two. Taking the total build time to an Hour. Would be nice to get that down to 30 minutes.

I really need a bead roller for ally intercooler piping aswell. Would be nice to have a machine to do both...

Machine up a ring in stainless, good press fit, heat it, slip it on, then tig round the joint on the cut face neatley.

Before slipping it on, drill three holes around the perimeter and plug weld it up from the inside. Could probably do it with no filler.

£70ish but you will need several for different size tubes. ROC bead rollers are fine for aluminium tube, and cost about the same.
