Been busy this week

First up a smal model dragonfly, mild steel with stainless wings and perched on some reeds, just right for the pondside, wingspan about 24"


Got this made on Monday then on Wednesday I went a bit mad.
Started making a semi abstract thingy based on a diatom/gherkin/menhir/obelisk thingy.
You know those occasional great days when everything works out just so and things fit, I had two of those back to back.
I had a vague idea of what I was looking for, did a lifesized sketch on the workbench in chalk then ignored it and ended up with this on Friday afternoon.

All 2.8m of it.
Made in butt welded 8mm mild steel, strong enough to climb up, I got half way and realised that I might look stupid hurting myself.

I was blown away by how straight it came out and how parallel all the lines are.

Yet on Tuesday I worked like a monkey and went home in disgust.

It does me, i'm going to make a robot from scrap engine parts etc and use it to hold the tig torch on my bench.

Probably won't be very good mind.

Zardoz, monday I made the dragonfly nice job, Thursday and Friday I worked like a robot, a model of efficiency and acuracy, made the Tower thingy, Tuesday I worked like a monkey, ******ed several things up and gave up in disgust. Surely we all get days like that, two left hands and shoddy incompetence. Oh, and what is a 'Hatlo Hat'? I am sure having it tipped is a compliment, but in what language?
Chipper have a go you never know what is lurking in there.
Rick, that sounds like a good piece of kit. I like to make stuff that has a function and looks interesting, just watch out that it does not keep on growing and take over the workplace.

At the moment the 'erection' is clogging up my workshop, from Monday it wil be living outside when I can find somewhere to mount it safely.

All the pics on this forum of works, projects, albums, whether art or industrial are all great to see. Very inspirational for an 'umble hammer-base life form.

Wow I like the tower very much Chunko. Will you be hitching it up to the national grid. A new concept in electric pylons. Or you could grow a Clematis Montana on to it.
