Ive been welding this to day its a horrendous skip some picks also a little position mma welding upside down fillet

There was some more but my phones fluffed what u guys think that was a 3.2 phoenix rod at 120 amps and the kempi was 28 volts stage 1 stage 7 argon sheild light

You've got a little hole at the end of the weld with a bit of slag stuck in it - You need to pause at the end of the weld to fill this. Crater cracks can propagate from stuff like this.

Having said that, upside down, on a rusty skip...irrelevant really...it's good enough

Cheers for that ill remember that for next time think ive commission ed a couple of battery boxes to be made on Thursday

Heres just another mig weld not amazing but its got full pen and will surve its purpose

Just don't let the customer see it until it's been covered with several coats of underseal! Otherwise it's at least as good as - if not better than - anything I could do considering the state of the parent metal.

Mind you: I'm still on the steeper part of the learning curve

Ul get there mate these guys know all about the welding and are very good at helping new ppl to the art of welding. These bins are for the more commercial use and I only do the welding all the fab is done by my uncle if it was me I would cut all the rot out and patch the sides and blend the welds then paint but its time I guess so its swings and round abouts

light passes with a grinding disc is ok as long as you keep a shallow angle, i didn't start using flap discs until about 8 mo the after i started welding

agreed, as BB says, the emphasis is on light as in do not not put any pressure on the disc, I find a fresh disc too coarse for fine work-a bit of use first gives better results, I was intoduced to flap discs a few years back-by reading about em on this forum- brilliant.
Fair job given the position and state of the job material, I'd want to cut the slag out and drop a blob on the end of that run-but thats me.
Some of that steel looks really manky to work with-good luck.

Yes mate it is horrendous the steel is in terrible condition I just try to do the best I can hopefully welding some battery boxes today the steel is in a bit better nick

Made this today battery box uno or prototype it was welded in various position s I think this v down I did stick weld some but for got the photos

This one I was told I coukd not weld at all to day I did in this position to annoy him ill have more tomorrow got a interview tomorrow for the local council
