Been given this 4hp air comp any one identify it no mod number

I think it could be an Ingersoll rand. popped the lid off and we have a reed valve dead can't order parts until it is identified any agents in newport area south wales andy

Can't you just make that out of a piece of spring steel? Cost you a lot less than the genuine part I suspect.

I would try a bit of "shim" steel...you can get it in various thicknesses.

I have some shim (make Stubs)
0.12th
0.15th
150mm wide
300mm long, so can cut for you it is flat sheet not rolled

Try Reeves 2000 the model engineering supply house, look for spring steel strip.

I used an old set of feeler guages to make replacement reed valves, the thickness is even stamped on them!

I used feeler gauges to make a replacement for mine worked a treat virtually correct width I had a range of thicknesses to try for £2.50!!

I actually used exactly same thickness and it lasted ok, But then tried slightly thicker when the other failed, and it seemed to fill faster so swapped the first replacement one for thicker and it definitely filled faster. It is on all day not pumping obviously but it runs every hour or so for 10 -12 seconds to refill.
