Beginners DVD and book

Can anyone recommend a COMPLETE beginners DVD and book for Arc welding. As my previous posts said I have just bought a Cytrington Minor (110amp) oil cooled arc welder. No previous knowledge or experience but I'm quite practical. I'm a Grounds Maintenance contractor and being able to weld would come in very handy as there's always something that needs mending. First project is to beef up the security on the farm where my depot is. Obviously I'll need lots of practice on old bits of metal first. Thanks Stu

there is an american DVD specifically aimed at beginers ARC welding, think its called soemthing original like.

Learn to ARC weld.

I bought it off ebay the other week, its about 90 mins, and gives some good info, but only if you work in inches. Dam americans dont seem to work in metric at all! So I didn't have a clue as he reels of rod sizes at a rate of knots!

Knowledgeable bloke though.

That's fine MK, no need for an apology.
I had a chat with Malcolm and we decided that as most of the stuff I had would have been copyrighted, it was best to remove all references to the library to avoid any potential issues.

Stu, I quite enjoyed http://www.aussieweld.com.au/arcwelding when I was on the prowl for reading matter.

www.metalwebnews.com is also a vast resource of information which I still regularly frequent. You may find the US Army manuals they host quite interesting.

You just have to be a bit careful with stuff like that, not much of it is in the public domain so afaik, even posting links to it constitutes distributing it.
Pictures are the same, as Malcolm has said before on here, if you didn't take the picture then someone else did, therefore they own it and the copyright on it.
In this day and age where you could probably get sued for farting in public, it's not worth taking chances.
