Hi all,
A few months ago, I wrote here:
https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/christmas-present.88530/ about the blast cabinet that my son bought me for Christmas and in it mentioned that the rather shallow hopper causing problems.
Well, I finally got round to doing something about it and thought, as pictures are involved, someone might like to see
The original hopper is only 100mm deep so after a bit of scribbling in Visio I came up with a couple of options, One at 200mm deep and one at 300. The 200mm deep version fitted a piece of 0.9mm steel I had in stock so that was the one I went with.
A bit of snipping, bending and welding and I had the rudiments of a new hopper.
A quick clean up, a bit of seam sealer and a lick of paint:
And I must say, I’m very pleased with the results.
Despite the pick up now being 100mm further down, I haven’t found the need to extend the pick up hose as it still seems to reach as far as I can reach with my hands in the gloves, but obviously, an easy fix to fit a longer hose if needed.
I still have to resolve the poor lighting issue but since the whole thing has had a good clean it’s not as bad as it had been.
If anyone wants the drawings (as applicable to a cabinet of 530 x 480) let me know, quite happy to share.
