Hi can anyone on here help ? I,m looking to bend 50 x 25 mm box section to allow me to make a car tilter i,m also looking for someone to laser/plasma cut out 10 mm plates like wheel spacers can anyone help ?
Reekie Eng in Arbroath have a laser or a plasma. Will cost though. We have a plasma but too busy with our own work.If you need machining done there`s R D Eng in Mackays boatyard at Arbroath.
If you want to curve it, you could either heat it up (find someone with a forge) or roll bend it (find someone with a roll bender), or maybe form it cold around a former you've made (use a long bar as a lever).
If you want to bend it, you either need a bender with the correct former, or heat, or possibly again a custom made former and some brute force.
Its a bit of a vague question. More data = better results.
Bend radius, wall thickness, easy way / hard way etc etc?
If you are making a tilter I imagine you are using quite long lengths of the RHS,So this would give you good leverage, I would recon if the curves are pretty gentle, It could be done cold using a couple of nice strong pins welded onto something solid and just go steady giving a slight bend every !" or 2".
I'v done similar section with no problems.
