Hello folks. Been a while.
Some of you may have seen that I posted a rebuild thread for a big clarke compressor some time ago.
I as threatening to do another with a vintage compressor, but life got in the way.
Anyway, I'm back on it ready for my new-build garage. This build is going to be a bit of a project in its own right and fancying going a bit daft with a vintage pump and custom paint. Its more for the fun of the build. Chuck in a bit of copper pipe and a daft gauge and it might even go all unnecessarily steampunk.
I'm trying to choose a compressor pump and I'll build from there, but theres very little info out there - loads on lathes and milling machines, but very little on compressors.
I'm looking for a starting point for googling the pump (or pumps if I go tandem). I'd like a bit of a classic design/an icon with great parts availability (critical) - ideally cast iron and ideally two or there cylinder. Made in Europe or the US.
The pump itself can be period or new (I'll dress it up) and needs to be able to run from a 3 or 4 HP single phase motor.
The Ingersol Rand T30 is the obvious one, but I'm told that parts availability on the old ones is a bit patchy in the UK and trying to match a bigger one with a single-phase motor is proving a bit confusing.
