Best connector for this air regulator?

It's a metal work regulator. All the other connectors are without the oring, so I'm wondering if this one is parallel thread? Can't work it out from datasheets, but, either way, I'm wondering what the best plan is.

Just get a 1/2 BSP connector with a flange?

Just in case... 1/2 BSP is 1/2" bore in the pipe, NOT the thread size! 1/4 BSP thread is near as dammit 1/2" major (outside) diameter and more likely what's in that regulator?

I believe the ‘o’ ring is there for joining two units together with clamps rather than to use threaded couplings. Something like the one pictured should be ok

I made that mistake with my very first air tools order, years back!

Since then, ive done a load of plumbing.

But, yes, they do make a, pretty much, identical regulator is 1/4, but this is the larger, 1/2 one.

This is with a 1/2 to 22mm fitting. I have no similar in 15mm about here. Seems to be ok.

I wouldn't rely on that o-ring to make a good seal on the brass fitting.

Get yourself a tube of loctite 577, it's the nuts for assembling air fittings. Easier & more reliable than thread tape & works very well on parallel fittings like yours.

If you watch out on ebay you can get it for around £10 for a big tube. I didn't think I would need a big tube but I'm using it for everything now, plumbers tape rarely gets used!

O ring will be fine, if you add anything its more likely to fail

I have a similar looking air filter/water drain/oiler kit and i used standard fittings to fit on the compressor. PTFE tape seals them fittings alright...As pointed above, the thin oring is for joining individual items in series with the screws provided. The filter traps are very sturdy and italian made, expensive though !

First time I set up my air line pipework I used plumbers tape & had leaks all over the place. From a tip on here I bought a tube of 577 & redone all my connections, no leaks this time.

It can be quite hard to get a seal in a parallel to parallel joint, that's where a liquid sealant is great. Also if you're putting a taper male into a soft material like ally or plastic and use plumbers tape you can easily split the casing trying to get the joint tight enough. You don't need to go as tight if you use a sealant, it will seal the joint & stop it turning.

As far as I'm aware, all parallel threaded pipe / tube fittings will have some form of sealing device, "O" ring or gasket of some kind (bonded washer, fibre or metallic). Tapered threads generally seal on the threads themselves. Though in my experience they usually require "assistance" (PTFE tape / Swak or similar).
I'm not sure that parallel and tapered fittings should be joined together, but I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong.
