Yes Linseed oil, mixed with a dollop of Stockholm Tar, go back to the Viking longboats and smell deliciousI think the best thing to use is an oil of some kind, teak, linseed etc etc but I don't know which is appropriate
Requires more maintenance I think, a yearly going over but seems to be the preferred choice rather than a paint.

I have been putting it on the bowsprit and capping rails of my boat, it takes a while to set hard, 2 or 3 coats unless it will be chafed by ropes etc when 4 is better.
The same as International Woodskin (which is double the price because it is aimed at so-called classic yachts)
But Filter 7 is available in a wide range of tints as well, the darker tint the more UV protection.
Edited to add... in the piccie, on the starboard capping rail, is the traditional varnish which is peeling off like a champ..
