best metal for head for charcoal grill

guys is any one have any id which metal srong for head i am going to build a charcoal grill but wher the gas heads up the stones metal which is holding the stones are melting like rusting of lasting about 4 weeks i use 16mm mild steal rods.
after 2weeks rods start to bending up when i remove 16mm rods become 12mm
i cant undustand this
but this charcoal grill all most working 14 hours a day is red hot.
any one have any id which metal is best for head exceip cost iron i have truy the cost iron is well that is bending is 1 weeks only.

stainless steel will last longer .but not much as it will buckle with intense heat. iron is the best even that doesnt last long
