Best to run two compressors?

As i have at last got to compressors to get the higher CFM i need for a blast pot which is the best way to pipe them together.

Is it best to use two one way valves in the lines beofre the Y piece then to the gun as i have read on the net or will just piping straight to a Y piece then to the gun be good enough ?

I cant understand why the need for a one way valve.

Connect the two tanks before the regulator.

You will need a non-return valve (NRV) if one compressor is rated at a higher Safe Working Pressure (SWP) than the other. EG if one has an SWP of 8 bar and the other 10 bar fit a NRV so that air can only flow from the 8 bar one into the 10 bar, and take the load from the 10 bar. That way you won't exceed the 8 bar SWP.

It would be a good idea to fit ball valves so you can isolate one tank if you only need the air from one compressor.

so tank lines to Y piece then line to regulator then line to gun. wiht the NRV on the lowest Bar tank.

The first type of NRV, you only need 1. If you set both cutout switches to below the lowest SWP you won't need an NRV. Also set the switches so the compressors don't switch at the same pressure to avoid mains surges.

If you can, try to place the reg close to where you're working, that way you'll be running most of the line at tank pressure which will increase airflow.

If one compressor is rated at a lower max pressure that should be the max pressure for the system, so both PRVs should be set below that maximum. Don't rely on a non-return to protect the tank from over pressure. If you want to isolate between the tanks then for a full bore ball valve after each tank outlet.

Adjust the pressure switch I meant so they are both below the lower tank max working pressure.

Ok

Both tanks are MWP 150psi

C1 Cut out is 135psi and Cut in 90psi
C2 Cut out is 125psi and Cut in 90psi

C2 builds up pressure quicker if that helps/matters.

So, not using a NRV

Set the Cut in one one compressor to 80psi and other keep at 90psi.

The Cut out is fine as it is below the 150psi MWP so no need to alter the Cut out unless the switch does that itself when i adjust the Cut in to get the 80psi needed.

So 3 meter lines ( already have these ) from tanks/ball valve to Y piece then to the regulator and have the reg as close as possible to the gun line.

Sounds a bit easy if that is it.

I just connected the tanks. Also bypassed the tank regulators.
