Bi-Cylindrical Compressor??

Hi Guys,
Has anyone use one of the Sealey Oil-Free Bi-Cylindrical compressors SA330A? I don't know how different it is from the direct drive or belt drive compressors. It quotes a high CFM but has only 3 litres air storage so I guess it would be running all the time.

I think that should be SA3304

The tank looks like its the frame.

It will run all the time if the load can take all the air off, if not it will have shore on/off cycles. You couls always fit an extra tank.

My good lord thats expensive !! It's direct drive but the pump uses oilless pistons and crank. The big end will be sealed ball bearing, there will be no small end, the piston is fixed to the rod so it rocks in the bore. The piston to bore seal is a special type of sprung O ring that runs without oil. Airbrush compressors are typically this type.
I wouldn't like to speculate on the life of a unit of this type, but I can't see it being as durable as conventional piston, screw or vane units.

it looks pricey and theres no storage tank .a belt drive unit with a decent tank on would be far better using airtoolls ect. ok for a dentist or sumone needing a small unit oilfree ive never had oil come out of my tank into any airlines a filter seperator generaly sorts that .out something with seperate motor seperate pump and tank will be better in the long run and easy to repair cheaply and a better selling price

There is an offer at my local supplier of £150 for the following compressor:

Sealey SAC05020 Compressor 50ltr Belt Drive 2.0hp Oil Free [SAC05020]

I can get two of these, join the outputs to the same air line, get 10CFM of supply and still save £150 from the Bi-cylindrical.

Oil-free and belt drive is unusual.

If you do connect two together make sure they switch at slightly different pressures to avoid excessive mains surges.

The frame is the storage tank but it's only 3 litres. It looks like a specialist item not a diy oriented machine.
