What size helmet are you normally?

Not sure, always struggled with hats so don’t bother. Hard hats at work I found a brand that had an adjustable band that just fits on the biggest setting. I inherited my old welding lid from a mate which fits ok

Possibly, I have been mulling it over this evening. I think I might extend the head band somehow.

Might be easy enough to extend. If I was doing it I think I would try and add a bit in at the front that could then be covered over with the sweatband rather than the rear exposed bit.
Might be worth having a look to see if the type of plastic is marked on the headband anywhere as you might be able to weld an extension piece in

My Shoei crash helmet was purchased because it was the only helmet in the shop that fitted my big scone. It's a 63-64cm XXL. It's a £500 helmet but was reduced because it was already 2 years old and 5 is the age 'limit'.
That was six years ago.

My welding helmet is on its last hole of adjustment.

My old foreman had a big head and would always moan if he accidentally picked up my lid and called me pin head

I said atleast mines not a waste of space

I bought a fairly expensive Trend Airshield Pro mask but they had designed it assuming a spherical head (or something like that) and it was terrible. My head is longer (front-to-back) than it is wide (left to right) and the add-on ear defenders barely touched the side of my head when sprung in. The elasticated dust shield around the outside had big gaps around the edges where it didn't touch my head. With ear defenders that didn't block out any noise and a dust shield that didn't block out dust, it didn't strike me as a very useful helmet!

Suffice to say I didn't keep it for long.
