Blast Pot Build

A little up date on this project. Built and finished not long after this thread started in April 09. I used a standard brass gate valve for the bottom media, I adjusted it a bit at first, but once I found the sweat spot I've left it alone. The rest was, black iron fittings all welded.

I'm a bit of a skiprat, finding a load of Air conditioning hose, I used this for the outlet pipe, with a PCL Fitting for the nossle. I've worn a few PLC fittings. The pipe has only worn out in the first 12" from the tank, and that was likely because of a fairly tight bend.

I have been running it off a Clarke SE19/150 compressor, however it really does give it a hard time running constantly with pot pressure set at 60psi. I've a 48CFM Hydravane I'm going to rebuild, so that'll be a problem no longer.

Full pen fillet weld on the tig. That should cope.

a bit late in the post but the shut off ball valve down the sideof the pot is left open . now and then the sand clogs up in the mixing valve at the bottom and wont budge . by turning the valve on the side off and on fairly quick it forces all the air down through the pot under presure and releasses the blockage when the valve is open the pot pressure and hose feeding the blast pipe are at equal pressure all the clemco mini pots are fitted with them

I've been thinking about using a gate valve, some of the commercial units use one lined with rubber. I think this is to avoid the step which the plunger presents when the valve is partially open.
