Heh? 215 sold and no complaints about the nozzle,wadda ya mean rtbcomp....surely there must have been some complaints if you're saying 15 minutes or do ya mean 15 weeks?

I had the SB4 and the nozzles wore out in no time. As they are consumables people accept this as normal.

I bought a professional one from Anglo-English Abrasives* with a tungsten carbide nozzle and it's miles better. It cost about £55 IIRC.

where do you get the Aluminium Oxide powder from I want to get it locally rather than ebay,Machinemart sell it but their prices are OTT.

Will this be ok for Aluminium engine casings?

thats pretty good if it does work out like the pics and vid show.

cheap and cheerfull way with not too much worry about the dangers of normal sandblasting.

Baking soda is the american term,UK it BiCarbonate soda but I see some uk stockist sell the arm&hammer for as low as £1.43 per 16oz box still a cheap way of descaling the aluminium engine casing.

Hi,
I hadn't noticed the video link on the site, just watched it now.

With the home made set up the process does look a little slow, so it's probably ok for small parts like carbs, but for engine casings you would be on for ages.

I think a suction feed gun would be better saves that extra line going to the air line.

I got a cheaper Sealey gun, similar to that one but not as nice. It cost around a tenner but can't find them for that at the mo'. So I couldn't see the point of faffing with a dust gun and all that, when there's guns out there for £notalot.

Proper blasting soda looked pricey to me, and being terminally tight I tried sugar... it was cheaper than baking soda and worked OK. Did some carbs and footpegs and bits with it. Not a shiney finish though, more matt light grey.

I got some oxide grit but my cheapo gun won't hardly shift it.. will do "squirts" but not a constant stream, it's also harsh on ally but praps thats just the grade I got. Dried sand is fine with it though, leaves a nice finish for painting onto.

Sugar not a very good thing to blast carbs with,could cause a problem if it gets into the jets housing and petrol gets mixed with it.

I don't suppose you have tried soapowder?

Thats all I'm interested in,getting a clean surface to spray over,thing is there's always intricate areas were its impossible to get any sort of tool or wire brush into.

You being tight like...I'm suprised you did not try ground down brick dust,I mean bricks can be got anywhere.

How's the Mk III grinder coming along by the way?

MkII Bottlebasher is working great - just need to soundproof it. MkIII grinder needs a control circuit to reverse the rollers when it jams or skids.

GP, easy, taped up inlet & outlet, have at it with the sugar, quick blast of tap juice and any bits are gone. Been running 3 yrs now no probs. One day I'll try soda though, see if it does make 'em gleam. Just seen a pics of some vapour blasted carbs, they look very nice and spangly.

Wet blasting with sand,does the nozzle suffer?

Was thinking in making a hose attachment with cannister on the hose for the sand and connecting to my pressure washer,probably with a pressure regulator for the output of the washer.
