Blasting cabinet media

Ok my cabinet is now sorted finally Sonu need some media I was thinking of using glass bead of some sort but what size anyone got any suggestions

glass beads are for cleaning and peening the surface without damage . crushed glass is for blasting getting rid of rust and leaving a good surface key for painting ,size depends on what size nozzle your running and if its a suction gun or pressurised pot

It's a suction cabinet I have crushed glass that I use in the pressure pot but I mostly will use it for cleaning alloy parts and I suppose the occasional rusty part

Bicarbonate of Soda ?

It is available in various grades depending on how much cleaning action you need.
Excess can be washed off, and it can also be used in solution to passivate items cleaned in an acid bath.

Only two problems with that. VERY MESSY and VERY SLOW. Anyone that has done this before will understand.

what I use if cleaning ally. I sand blast them 1st using kiln dried sand then bead blast them to peen the surface. if the parts are delicate and machined like pistons carburettors etc I just fine bead blast them with suction gun my guyson lookalike

I reckon I'm gonna get some glass beads any recommendations on size to go for 100-200 microns?

My cabinet is not a guyson it is a commercial one can't remember the make but it was made in Hemel Hempstead I remember that much from the plate

If using sand you should ensure adequate through draught into a proper filter - shouldn't you? It is very harmful to your lungs. I stopped using it years ago because of the dust.

I will point out its not supposed to be used as it contains silica. my cabinets well sealed and the 4inch woodchip fan can pull more air out than a pressure pot can put in I also wear a mask just in case

I got some 180 - 300 micron on eBay got 10 kilos hopefully that will do to try it got some engine cases to do now just got to stop my big compressor overheating after 20 mins and ******* oil and diesel everywhere and get the grinder extraction unit I was given working

Crushed walnut shells, coconut shells, both excellent for blast cleaning.
