Blasting media

I'm quite new to media blasting and I was just wondering where do you buy your media?
I started with aluminium oxide from machine mart but its quite expensive so I ordered some j blast superfine from eBay and it was much cheaper but the postage is expensive. I surfed this forum and found out that some of you guys use recycles crushed glass. I checked on line and I can't find any supplier in London or around London. Buying it on eBay makes it expensive because of postage cost again.

Thanks Mike it's seems like a very good value for money I just don't have either room or need for 40 bags I need about 4-5 to finish what I'm doing.

if you searched for crushed glass you might have found me mentioning you can get it for £5 - 25kg bag a Ringwood just through the new forest, worth the drive compared to the machine mart

Are you using it in a cabinet? If your blasting to waste then go for crushed glass but if you are using a cabinet then 20kg of ao is equivalent to around 600kg of crushed glass so while thinking the ao is more expensive it isn't for the amount of times it can be reused. I was going to use crushed glass but in a cabinet it makes no sense really and works out more expensive nevermind the disposing of such large quantities of blasting media.

is there a Hodge Clemco in Melton hull ? need to get some media as close to bridlington as possible and after been passed about a few times one place said this place so checked online and there website said nothing about one in hull or is it not same company ?

I've been trying to find the same and I think I've just struck lucky.
I've been talking to a very helpful guy called Steve at Techfil. They do recycled crushed glass, I'm after the fine grade (0.2-0.5mm) which they have and its £10 per 25kg collection. (I've recently paid just over £7 per bag but with an eye watering £9 per bag delivery I think)

I told him I'd post this up for others if its of use, I'm not able to get down to pick some up for a week or so but if anyone does give them a try please let me know how you get on as this sounds ideal to me! A pity I didn't find them over a year ago.

I get loads of use from the machine mart aluminium oxide. Way more than I did with crushed glass. In actual terms it worked out a lot cheaper to use in my blast cabinet.
