Blasting Media?

looks a bit like this https://www.guyson.co.uk/aftersales/guyson-blast-media/abrasive-blast-media .whatever it is it can be used on anything needing an abraded surface and rust removal might be a bit course on ally though

There isn't a brand on the bag, only the markings in the pics i've posted.
I have a quite few bags of it so was hoping it could be used to clean up some steel wheels, chassis bits etc.
Being new to blasting, and having read postings here, i was concerned with regards to it's makeup and PPE

if not in a cabinet with dust extraction and open blasted just use a decent face mask and face shield if you haven't got a proper blasting helmet

On the first pic, is that 0.09 to 0.5? I can't find anything else on those numbers, guessing thats in .mm
It looks like pretty course glass but hard to tell

Yes, i was guessing that was the grade. Like you i found nothing on the numbers hence the back to basics visual query.
I tried taking a closeup and bit further away pic but think i may have confused the issue even more

This is what .2 to .4 glass looks like for perspective with a bud stick.
Yours looks a lot rougher than that - or you may have a better definition camera.
If it is glass it looks mixed recycled

0.09 ? Looks like 1mm general purpose media to me. Use it, see what happens.

just been working at a lads house today who does blasting recons the crushed glass is only 2 quid a bag +vat and just at Middlesbrough

Hard to tell from the pics but that looks like the black slag stuff. It is very sharp and abrasive - great for steel. Can be reused. Produces a lot less dust than sand.

its not copper slag that's what I use as someone said it looks like crushed glass obviously not just clear poss green and brown

yeh, its just recylced glass. Good for most stuff, inert, recyleable, and cheap as chips.... in fact, now i think about it, considerably cheaper than chips..... it will break down pretty quickly if youre using it in a proper blaster, we get about 2-5 uses out of it depending on what we're blasting (the blast shop here goes through about 0.5-1T/wk doing, mostly classic car bits and bobs in the room.....) then it goes in the bin. For wheels and chassis stuff, it'll be just the ticket! Need to keep it dry though, like all medias it'll stop flowing nicely if it gets at all wet.....

Amazing how dense the grit can be. The smallest pallet in my warehouse- about knee height - is also the heaviest!

Thanks guys for all your input. Good to know it's inert before i go spraying it around like a firehose
Will post a pic soon of blaster thingy, for your thoughts, before i get into proper play mode
