Needing to invest in some blasting equipment for spot repairs on car bodywork ! im guessing im better of with a pressure pot than the cheaper suction type gun ? What kind of media should i be looking at using ?
I've been using recycled glass, its cheap, effective and you can reuse it as long as you filter it. Found a supplier locally who seems cheap as chips. EBay item number 121282701547
I got 2 pallets of recycled glass from these guys, cut out the middle man and go direct to the producer. Only problem is you need to buy a tonne at a time. £150 a tonne delivered! No need to filter an reuse at that price.
Their prices are very good, I was paying 40p per Kg when I first started using it, it's obviously a lot more popular now.
One advantage of recycling is that the more you use it the finer it gets, so you can buy the coarsest that your gun will work with and get finer grades for free. You really need worn media for aluminum if you're using crushed glass.
Also the more you buy the more you have to pay to dispose of.
For spot repairs I'd go for a decent suction gun. I bought one from Anglo Scott abrasives and had it fitted with a tungsten carbide nozzle and the smaller of the two air nozzles.
I use it to do the bits I missed when blasting larger items.
