Blue bead air dryers any good?

Are these SIP dryers worth installing?

They have blue moisture absorbing beads in them. If they are like silica then they can be replaced or dried out in the oven.

but, if they change colour as they get wet they could work as an indicator if your air feed is wet ?

I was thinking of making one for when I (eventually) build a plasma table, to make sure the air is good and try after the air dryer

5kg tub of silica desicant, I think it cost 12francs. I still haven't got round to trying it.

I think that it is well worth paying very marginally more to get the 'self indicating' silica gel that changes colour as it absorbs water, and to have a clear housing so that you can see the colour change easily.

Otherwise it'll be fine to begin with then you are bound to forget to to check it

A great price (£133 delivered, way cheaper than anywhere else I've seen them for sale) and claims to remove 99.9999% water and 99% of particles down to 1 micron.

yes it may remove 99percent of water but once the air heats up and is humid it will pass through the filter and condense further down line

I have one on my compressor tank and one on the blast pot on end of line . after 10 minute running and air heats up it soon passes the filter and condenses in the pot pipework to the regulator tap . I overcome the problem by having a secondary tank next to pot and that cools the air down sufficient for the separator to keep on top of it
