Blue protection film

Many of you on here do things with sheet aluminium and stainless. Do any of you apply that temporary blue film to protect it?

I'm after a small amount to replace the film on the load protectors on my car, it's on the boot and door sill plates and has lasted 13 years so far but the boot ones are looking tatty. I've had a look online but could only see huge rolls of the stuff. I only need enough to replace the below a few times.

Poly coating, its applied by the material suppliers, that will have been applied before it was pressed out.
Most stockholders will ad it as an extra to stock sheet that is uncoated on request, they have a simple machine that you push a sheet through that unrolls it of the big roll onto sheets, its not easy to use otherwise, like clingfilm it sticks to its self, your fingers, anything but where you want it to.
Ask at a local stainless stock holder if they might have a bit left on a roll, but good luck using it.

Polycoating. Me and a lad once attempted to apply it to some ally sheets before sending out to site. Impossible to avoid it looking like Nora Battys stockings although you might have more luck with a small area.

What about the sticky back plastic stuff that DIY places sell?

Just get a small roll of vinyl wrap amd heat gun it on.
Carbon fibre look wrap.

Gotta be better than the manky blue film.

If you like the blue look, then apply some proper vinyl in a colour and pattern you like.

that stuff should have been removed when the vehicle was pdq , i would have been shot if i had left that on a customers new vehicle at the dealers.

Like the rubber dip for protecting newly sharpened tools?

Haha this has been fun.

Many of these are coming in from Japan with the film still on. It's almost like a challenge not to remove it.

It's not that I specifically want to protect it, it's that I specifically want it to look like it was never removed, I just thought someone on here might use it and have a bit spare.

I imagine it's not easy, I used to be a signwriter and wrapper (not rapper ) so i reckon I could get on ok

Not quite but I do have a boot carpet protector and then a protector for the protector, both genuine subaru!

It doesn't, that would be silly, it has a glass screen protector. I will never remove it, you can dent my pride but you can never remove my film.
