boc argon regulator

sort of a cautious approach here

got an argon boc regulator with mig welder pics included now i have tested the regulator and theres no leaks from the side with the holes in it as tested with a mix of washing up liquid and water no bubbles appear at all tested against the bottle and tested the regulator these are all sound no leaks at all and same at the welding pipe

tested slowly uping the pressure as testing until at full pressure

flow is there upon pressing trigger

I wounder how accurate the flow rate marks are on the tap ?
Might want to get yourself a flow meter....

Are you saying you get flow at the trigger with the reg shut off?

I'm not seeing a question in your post.

If you must test for leaks with washing up liquid ensure you wipe any remains off. A lot of washing up liquid has a very high salt content and can be highly corrosive if not removed

Worse still, some washing up liquids contain oil which can cause instantaneous combustion if they get in the seat area of an oxy bottle.

boc used to recomend testing with lisapol its a soap that is part of the washing up liquid without the detergent

BOC now recommend propriety leak detection fluid such as Snoop or Teepol etc, and Yes Jim you are 100% right with your comments

you have to excuse my novice approach the post was part of a question on the regulator as ive not come across this sort of reg before and i was unsure of the holes at side of reg

i did as best as i could test approach and therefore posted pics up just incase someone said dont use it

only when i press gun trigger does the gas come out the end of welding machine otherwise than that no leaks on any part of the sytem and regulator

but otherwise thankyou and thankyou for the advice upon testing via leak detection fluid

however it is a boc regulator so its either a flow meter on end of pipe or at release of gas from regulator from my own reading better off getting a flow reader at end of pipe after gun as can get better reading there
