What do the shops/pro's use?

Have been thinking on these http://shop.cirrus-systems.co.uk/index.php?cPath=21 but at over £32 for 4 litres ex post I'd want to know it works before shelling out.

Nitromors sucks imho, several times it's failed to shift paint for me. Currently have a Landy bonnet, some layers moved OK others not touched at all. It's only synth enamel and been painted by squaddies - ex-army Lightweight.
Other times were things like old 60s paint on Ford Mustang stuff, bike bits n bobs mainly though. Fed up with the stuff.

por-strip is meant to be very good and non toxic.

not used it myself but heared good things about it.

One guy said those strip discs didn't last long at all, which has put me off 'em in the past. I guess without using paint stripper. Interesting about strip disc + stripper though I still have the prob of Nitromors not affecting paint. Might try one out though anyways.

Not heard anyone using the POR strip either, but any reports of being good is handy, cheers.

One thing that works is ammonia-based oven cleaner gel, aka carbon remover. That does shift paint which Nitro couldn't budge. Only comes in small pots though far as I know.

most paint suppliers have a few brands.
talk to them.
put it on thick and put newspaper on it too keep it from drying out.more so this weather.

I have used POR15 paint stripper and i found it next to useless.
It is very thin and watery and as such runs off the panel.
I would not reccomend it.

give the paint a going over with rubbing paper,coarse first to break the surface.

I bought whatever the paint shop sold the cheapest, it was always methylene chloride based. I bare metalled quite a few cars with it. not much that methylene chloride doesn't go thru, takes powder coating off if left in a bath of it.
This is the weather for paint stripping, you wack a sheet of black polythene over the car after applying the stripper.

soda blasting?

theres a soda blasting guy in cambridge, think he is near waterbeach, sells the blaster and soda cheap

Wanted to suss a decent painstripper though for future ref / save money etc.

i use nitromors where i work with great success,the best way to use it is to break the surface of the paint first,scratch it all over but dont go to deep,apply a thick coat of paint stripper , then cover it with polythene plastic sheeting and wait 15 mins,scrap off an repeat,always works great for me
