Bosch ve pump diaphram

Thought id check to see if the pump on my 300tdi was messed with at all, but as the engine was sitting outside for god knows how long before i got it, the fuel pin and diaphram are stuck in place, but i can rotate the pin around. (Atleast i think its moving the pin around and not just the diaphram)
Theres no movement up and down on the diaphram like there should be, just stuck down.

Best to just leave it be if its running fine?

leave it, i had a similar issue and wrote off a pump by forcing it. theres a governer pin that seizes out and stos you being able to lift the pin out. make sure you returned the pin to where it was after rotating it

Sounds like someone has wound the full load fuel metering screw ( 10) in on the back of the pump, are the seals missing? This screw acts on a pivot that pushes a guide pin (4) into the diaphram pin.

Wouldnt that being wound in result in a lot of black smoke though?
After cleaning the intercooler and inlet manifold i have none at all.

I need it for work again from tomorow so i cant mess with it now, hopefully it just carries on running fine my other 300tdi can donate its pump if i really need it though, not that i know how the change it lol.

I have a spare on the bench that id thought id take the throttle linkage off to see how it all worked , i cant get it back on properly

There is a Bosch agent in Birmingham that i had to go to to get spares for my Audi Bosch pump, We ended up changing seals in it but we made the mistake of doing it on a Sunday and it took a few days to get it back on the road, I would run it with the black smoke for now as its still usable, I did have less smoke after i put in a fuel treatment but it did'nt cure the problem.

I dont actually have any smoke now, the inlet manifold was full of crap as the egr valve was still on there when i got it, only just got round to cleaning it out and all black smoke has disappeared.

I think ive got how it works, so if the diaphram is stuck down than the guide pin is running on the thinner part of the cone, meaning more fuel and if the guide pin is stuck out, that too means more fuel?

Should really be smoking then shouldnt it

I had a smoke problem and ended up blanking the egr but that was mainly on starting and sudden revs, One of the audi/vw forums had a great download on rebuild and hybrid set ups to make old pumps more ecu type, I think it also lets them work better with green fuels like cooking oil.
