Bought an ingersoll rand compressor i don't really want

been looking at compressors on eBay found one it was listing as 200l wasn't to far but was 3 phase but for the price didn't mind converting it (i should of looked into it abit more) go there it was tiny 50l said i don't want it unless you will take £20

do you think it will be good enough for me just to run my air gun and the odd cutting tool

what would be the best way to convert it change the motor or get an inverter

or does anyone on here want it

The sticker on the tank says 230v but the motor 400v! Could have had the motor changed over at some point.
I'll give you £20 for it......

Not sure it will fill your airgun, most guns operate using very high psi. Mine works on 3330 psi

that one will work a plasma cutter with some tools it wont work but others it will give burst use until back to pressure

be careful if your thinking of buying one that needs converting you could end up with half the psi pressure unless you buy the pump as well as a motor

if you got it for £20 stick it back on ebay and put the profit towards a single phase one with a bigger tank

I think what Gaz is saying is you need a motor as powerful as the 3 phase one
(a lot of the time they're 3 phase because they use a lot of power, more than you can get from a 3pin plug)


data plate says 1.5kw that's 2hp, which should be no problem if you do want to convert it

a 2hp or more single phase motor

ebay is your best bet

bigger is better, but 3hp is about the max you can run from a normal 3pin plug

try to get one that already has a pulley on it, or one where the pulley from your motor will fit


if you use a smaller pulley it'll be the same pressure but a bit less flow (so it will take longer to fill the tank)

you don't want a bigger pulley - chances are you'd blow fuese because the motor would struggle to start up :-o

I spent months looking for a second hand 3hp single phase motor but got nowhere fast, I bought a Machine Mart one new in the end.
As said stick it on fleabay and make a few quid profit .

I think I'll keep it and put a Honda engine on it needed a mobile compressor a few times and love a project

but a 7.5hp motor was on it

bought another belt driven one and use that instead

you dont just have ebay to look at theres also gumtree and others

also you could use a gas bottle for an extra air tank

Should be a very decent compressor, provided it's not worn out/been run out of oil or anything silly.
Well worth keeping and doing something with I'd say.
