Braking a single phase motor

Hi all
I have table saw with a 4 hp repulsion motor v old , is it possible to fit a dc brake system to it ? Happy to wire it in my self but would need a cct diagram etc ,anyone done this

Just find a bench saw with a braked motor...plenty on the bay of pigs or does this sound too easy for our tinkering types

Hi the saw is a good cast iron one, the bay has lots of overpriced ones I haven't seen a braked item single phase, also the prices are mad

Done a few single and 3 phase saws. We use Dold brakes - but they ain't cheap!

What make is the saw?

Some of the newer/cheaper saws have a coil/brake disc type on the fan end of the motor. These can be fitted with a bit of inginuety!

The saw is a 1950s Multico ,massive trojan repulsion motor on 16 supply

Another vote for the Dold Units, good product with good technical back up.

You have to be a bit careful with older motors, some don't like d.c. Injection. If you ring Dold they will talk you through it whether you buy one or not!

From memory you need an accurate dc ammeter to set them up properly as well.
Are you looking at the under 10 seconds for woodworking machinery regs?
