brass corrosion?

is there any sort of galvanic corrosion with brass when in permamnent contact with either aluminum (6xxx series) or 304 stainless? more specifically, brass as the pin through a hinge, and as thumb screws into a threaded block.

Brass and aluminuim, yep. Add some copaslip for double extra fun. I unwittingly put copaslip on some motorbike carb idle mixture needles years ago and 2 weeks later they were seized comletely solid when I went to do more work.

1 question, where is bog standard off the shelf brass on that chart? i thought brass and 304 were quite close after looking on google, but i see brass near the top of that chart and 304 quite low down.

would brass come under nickel copper? although i know there is a lot of zinc in brass so maybe not.

just checked and the brass i have is cz121 which is copper, lead and zinc from what i can see

brass is yellow brass -0.3 to -0.4
Brass jets obviously survive well in alloy/zinc carb bodies without any gunge added to the joint.

Thanks for that, think I will go with stainless just because they are closer on the chart than the aluminium is.

Brass and stainless together are fine, but brass itself is not very good in salty environments since it is an alloy of copper and zinc - the zinc corrodes away leaving something with the strength of a carrot. So if you're fixing a stainless fitting to a wooden boat for example, use bronze or stainless fixings rather than brass.

in my application, the brass ros is going to be a pin in a hinge for a chisel sharpening jig, so will be stored dry and clean
