Bristol pneumatic compressor

I have just got my hands on a 200ltr tank with a Bristol pump 240V

motor and pump work a treat just have to sort the pressure switch out 3 connections on the bottom row and 3 on the top??the only id i can find on it is NLD 500v 16 amp but not sure if it 3 phase or single phase any ideas please

The model of the pump is 448208
and the tank 307B13.5 B34978

They are both Bristol Pneumatic Tools
and the motor is Brook Compton Parkinson Motors HPW100LH

it is a 3 phase pressure switch but can be used as single phase the contacts are 16 amp each and motor u have is 12 amp flc so it will take the load . just use 2 sets of contacts in stead of the 3 . live and neutral in and live and neutral out through the contacts

Cheers brightspark it was not wired in so was not to sure,they had it running (god knows how)of 2 plugs wired direct to the motor,live from 1 joined to neg on the other,2 plugs wired in series?They did say it kept tripping out tho!

u will find on start up under load it will blow a 13 amp fuse in a plug as the starting amps are high on a 2.5kw motor . motor will need a 16 amp fuse minimum

It will be on a blue plug on its own trip when its rebuilt up still cant see how they had it running on 2 plugs wouldn't they just short out,this is what i found before i ripped it out!!!!

a lot of the older pressure switches didnt have an on off switch fitted . the later danfoss pressure switches have them. if u havent just use a double pole isolator on the supply cable to turn on and off . on large motors the pressure switch is wired through a contactor only operating the contactor coil at low current and can switch larger loads than the pressure switch is rated at

Had it up and running today after sorting the wiring even stops and starts how it should no air leaks and so quiet,suprised aswell it will run of 13 amp was expecting it to need 16amps.
Now to strip it down again and clean it up now i know it works proper.
