broken fitting

Hello people. new member so please be nice!

Anyone know the answer to my current problem?

I've just got a compressor cheap as one of the fittings is snapped off but I'm struggling to identify how to order a replacement.

The fitting is a 90 degree elbow 1/2" standard male parallel BSPP thread on one side - this screws into the compressor outlet on the cylinder head, the other end looked at first glance like the same 1/2" male thread but the diameter is slightly less and has a domed end. It looks like a large male brake pipe fitting i.e should accept a flared pipe. Is this a standard type of thing or am i going to have to do some cobbling?

I know a photo would be useful but I cant sort that at the moment!

any ideas anyone? I know water plumbing pipework but this is all new to me.

Thanks very much, that looks like the kiddie. Would it be foolish to think that a 1/2 BSPP fitting would look the same diameter as a 1/2 JIC fitting on the outside?

I'd put money on me ordering the wrong size.

A lot of metric threads are VERY similar to bsp I had one only the other day it was identical to 3/8 bsp but it was actually 18mm iirc and the fitting screwed in perfectly for 2 threads pitch was spot on but the major dia was something like 8thou bigger so just be careful

If the domed bit IS JIC then it'll be 1/2" OD on the threads or very close. If that's true and that thread is slightly smaller than the parallel one, then the other end is probably dash 04 or 1/4" bspp which should have an OD of 0.518" or 13.158mm

I managed to get a connection onto the non return valve (which was the same odd fitting) from a hydraulic pipe shop and an adapter to good old BSPP. from there it was doable. the fitting was a JIC. Bloke on the parts counter charged me £3.25 and solved all my problems.
