Broken kitchen door hinge plate

Hi Folks,
Does anyone have any idea where I can source a plate to replace the broken one pictured. I've looked through loads of pictures on Google but can't see anything like it. It will be a fiddly thing to make.

used to have a load of these at work will look tomorrow but cant promise anything they could well have been binned by now.

if you have to make one cut out the raised sections then plug weld them through the back of the larger plate then drill and tap

I know it goes against every normal instinct but in this case what about buying a replacement

There may not be anything totally identical but a couple more screwholes in the door or cupboard skin shouldn't matter

Shame on you both - that's a perfectly good hinge (and better quality than a lot I have seen) - all I need is a new plate ;-)

Hafele do them. For the sake of a few quid I'd just buy a new unit.

I lost you when you mentioned plug welding. I figure I can file most of it out of a bit of stainless flat. It is those two recesses on the sides (making a fat T shape on it's side towards the LH side as pictured) which will be tricky to hand craft. I could set up a little mill cutter in the lathe and use the vertical slide but buying a cutter will cost more than replacement hinges! Those little recesses allow vertical adjustment of the door.

Will be great if you do have some :-)

Glue it to a backing plate and recess the extra into the frame.

Looks like pot metal which won't weld but with it being firmly bolted in place, a decent metal glue should hold it.

Thanks - good site but I can't see anything quite like my hinge.

Hafele do them. For the sake of a few quid I'd just buy a new unit.

Thanks - had a look through the Hafele range and can't find anything with the same kind of mounting as mine.

Or go to your nearest joinery shop with the broken hinge and I'm sure they will have one for you. There are lots of different types and manufacturers, but mostly they all use the same size holes and centres.

Some of those hinges can be very expensive. I went to buy one for my sister, it had broken like the one in the picture. It was used to hinge a door off the front of a bosch washing machine in a built in kitchen. 80 euros, but i got one cheaper.

When I worked at a scrap metal place, we got lots of them and they were mostly zinc.

im sorry to say I didn't find any they must have fallen victim to the skip, which is annoying when someone could have used them they were all brand new in bags.

OK, thanks for checking. I think I will have a crack at making a replacement plate - it will be an interesting exercise and satisfying if it works.

By the look of that i assume the two screws that fix it to the carcass are inline with the hinge instead of the conventional above and below method,this in turn appears to put a lot of stress on that 1st screw hole. My worry would be that the rest of them are about to do the same and it will become like the forth bridge. for the sake of a couple of pilot holes in the right place i would replace it with a standard hinge. toolstation stock a repair plate for the carcass i would use this as a template for the new holes it will position them corectly
