Hey,
I have recently bought an old Eutectic Microflo and Rototec model 1 torches. I have been getting good results with the microflo with Eutalloy 10185 and a mystery French powder I acquired a reasonable amount of, I haven't used the rototec yet but am planning to once I have a bit more space cleared out with some rollers.
I am wanting to find a spray powder that will leave a bronze/coppery finish for aesthetic reasons, doesn't need to be hardwearing or anything. The NZ Castolin dealer has recommended Proxon 21071 for this, I believe its a lower temp powder and requires a bond coat. The Proxon is about $540 NZD ex gst which I can stomach but the ultrabond required as the bond coat is nearly $1000 which I'm not so keen on. I do have some ultrabond 25000, 35000 and 50000 that I assume I could use as the base but its really old and I don't have much of most of them. I would really like a single coat higher temp spray like the 10185 with a bronze/copper finish, does anyone know of any bronze/copper coloured powder out there? Doesn't have to be a Castolin brand necessarily if it will flow through the microflo torch.
I do have some eutectic XHD-1855 Al bronze rods that leave a nice bright finish, also laid down AlB and SiB with TIG but its very time consuming. I have just bought some Si Bronze MIG wire to try out as well but would really like a spray powder as it would be much more efficient to lay down on over larger areas, especially as its for aesthetic rather than mechanical purpose.
By the way I want to thank everyone for all the info in the main Eutectic thread, amazing amount of knowledge shared that's really hard to get hold of these days.
