Broomwade 2X1 portable compressor

Hi,

Just bought this (heavy) little compressor from the dump for £5. It seems ok and also capable of driving my touch up gun, in fact it can hold much higher pressure and has a control valve/vent and what looks like a mini resovior or moisture trape (cast ) . Has anyone used one of these?

Is it like a motor with the compressor pump directly attached on the end, whole thing stands on feet at the bottom of the motor and has a carrying handle on the top ?

If so, I have 3 !! Also have a users manual and parts manual.

First thing I sprayed was with that, a yellow Matchless chopper!! My uncle sprayed many a moggy with it. I borrowed it in ~1973. A few years ago I was given it and the box it was in, yes it was still boxed!
I flogged it to an ex-boomwade engineer who was after little compressor for blowing up tyres and general stuff

Hi, yep mine is like that without a tank. I tried it with a spray gun and it held 35 psi great. I also got a large compressor tank about 75 litres and was going to use all the bits from a cheap 25 litre compressor tro make the 75 litre tank useable.

Very high quality units and unbeatable within their design limits.
Mine are like the unit above too, except for one. Of the 2 that are like that, one is well used but functions perfectly, the other is almost unused and like new. Then the other one is a version produced for dental surgeries, so it has a receiver and automatic stop/start, painted high tech silver and has chrome plated fittings.
They are quiet in use take up so little space. I keep one by the garage door for tyre inflation etc.

I have just unearthed one of these little compressors in our workshop needs a bit of tlc and cant run it until sump levels ok and air filtering

Could I please have a copy of the parts and users manual as I have just bought myself this very model of compressor. I know it it said to be portable, but they are damned heavy. I have the one with the 20lt reciever and it weighs 40KG, and built like a tank smile. I probably will have further questions as she is a little noisy, but that's using it on a laminated floor in my kitchen hahahhahah. Must stand her on some carpet at some point, and build it a acoustic cabinet - When my nabours learn to behave.

Yes I do mine isnt as complicated as this what are all the pressure gauges for? differnet outlets no doubt. Unscrew the big filter on top tip out the rust and refill tube down middle with stainless steel washing up wire ball ripped up soaked in clean oil. Fill oil tank at bottom to mark. I wouldnt bother to change it. Mine has got motorcycle oil in. I put in a in line air filter between outlet port next to fins and my hose to air gun. The motors are indestructible. Beautifully made these things what a find!

Brilliant, thanks for that. As far as I can tell one pressure gauge gives the tank pressure, and the other the pressure after the regulator. The box next to the two gauges houses the pressure cut-off switch and solenoid. Good tip regarding the air filter, the original one has pretty much disintegrated. I've got a couple of litres of spare motorcycle oil, so I'll probably just change it as I have no idea what oil is in there all ready. Hopefully it'll go on for another 40 years or so

Hi i have a small broome and wade 2xl compressor was wondering about new oil and how much they hold. Im a plumber and use it to pressueize the pipework for testing. Have used other compressors but this old one seems the best. Any help would be appriciated thanks
