Broomwade Compressor Identification

Hi there,

I’m trying to identify a compressor that I own and I’m hoping that someone on here will be able to tell what it is, or point out what I can check to confirm make/model.

From looking at photos online, it seems to me that it looks like a Broomwade compressor pump. The compressor pump has no data tag on it that I can find.

I understand the compressor was supplying air for a workshop a number of years ago, but I haven’t had it running yet.

The motor is a Crompton Parkinson 5 hp, 3 phase unit.

Any idea what the compressor is, and even better if workshop manuals still exist for these things?

Try and search for AC18 or AC25, would have been around a 18cfm with a 5hp motor.

Thanks for the reply, any recommendations on where to look for manuals? I’ve searched on Google but the few results I get are pretty spurious at best.

Is there anything I could look at or measure to distinguish between the AC18 and AC25? Or are they near identical?
I don’t mind which it is, so I guess it only matters if they are materially different to work on.

AC18 and 25 are the same pump they are made to run at different RPM to change the output.
Min rpm 600 Max rpm 950.
Normal rpm AC18 720 AC25 950.
Cylinder bore 3" Stroke 3."
Oil cap of crankcase 2pt.
Min working pressure 15psi.
Max working pressure 150psi.
Min ambient 0 deg C.
Max ambient 40 deg C.

Looks the same as my ac7.
But, I have the period brochure and manual for this age of broomwade pump.
I have just stripped and cleaned my 1975 broomwade.
I'll have a look tomorrow.
If I forget, quote me or something Son I get a notification to remind me.

I imagine the manual basics will cover all of the models anyway.
I can take more pics or give a little advice if you need.
