Anyone know what kind of speed this should run? A bit of a guess as I'm not taking the head off but it looks to have a bore and stroke of somewhere around 2.5" to 3". What would be the nearest broomwade model? they look very similar.
that model is bomb proof......up-grade the air filter to a car type.....
I always used the Morris 1000 or Marina type.....gotta be others tho....
I'd say about 500 rpm would be enough...with a 3hp motor....
lower hp u need to be slower....
they run slower than modern types coz there's more weight/mass inside......
think I'd start off at 350rpm and then if needed u can get a diff motor pulley they are not expensive anymore if u wanna speed up......
PS. all my oiled compressors run 5-40 synthetic eng oil.....
I have all the original paperwork and model catalogues. Think I have diagrams etc of these pumps too.
If you still need more info, I'll dig the paperwork out.
Seen plenty of these in my industry, running for years (20 plus) with no issues, ripped out and replaced with modern lightweight stuff. They were never run that fast though - 4 to 5 hundred rpm was about it, something like a 4 inch motor pulley, running at 1400rpms. It will outlast you (some major assumptions made there...)
