Anyone know what threads Hyundai use in their receivers?

Had huge fall out with Hyundai over a 150l 14cfm reconditioned compressor, to the point that I just told them to send the thing back to me.

When I first got it, I wound a BSP fitting into it, but I’m not sure it was clever.

Pulled it out to send back to Hyundai ….. that’s another story…just got the compressor back, the bsp brass connector I’d used before looks a bit mangled. Hence r the question.

Just wondering if it could be BSPP i.e British Standard Pipe Parallel, a thread I’ve discovered on my old resto project. RonA

I don't know much about this, but the only ntp I have is on an American made mac air tool.
I assumed it was an American thing?

The acronym is "NPT" ( National Pipe Thread ), not ntp.
Yes, it is a USA standard.

Probably BSP... but no guarantees...
The part you put in was a male thread? And you want to replace that?

A tapered male thread will tighten and seal into parallel female generally.
If the male is parallel then slightly less chance without copious amounts of ptfe or a squirt of 577.

all of mine have been a tapered thread, whether it was NPT, or BSP, no idea, but I used BSP (T) tapered... n them as that's what I had. Only problem I had was ptfe tape, gave up on that long ago, use the ptfe paste / resin now, far better, no leaks now, and it lock the fittings in place like loctite. Only way you'll get them out is to heat the with the heat gun, but air tight joints every time.

You would hope a European supplied one would be BSP (which otherwise known as "G" on the mainland for parallel threads)

If your brass nipple came with a cheapo air tool, that might be the NPT.

Taper male BSP will seal into parallel BSP with tape/sealant gunk. Parallel into parallel will too with enough gunk - but they should really be sealing with sealing washers, o-rings on faces.

1/4 NPT and 1/4 BSP are close enough to sort of work if you accept some deformation. Not much else will between the two unless you have a really long pair of stilsons and no mechanical sympathy . . .

Not sure which connection this involves on your receiver, but the end-plugs on my Sealey compressor are 3/4" parallel, rather than tapered, i.e. BSPP not BSPT. The sealing of the plug to the receiver is done by a flat rubber washer or an O-ring, not by sealed tapering threads. I seem to remember another one that was metric, M22 x 1.5.
