Builders Trestles

I am ploughing on with the block work on the barn but I keep having to shift the 5 heavy duty builders trestles I have so I could do with more. I have searched locally for used trestles on eBay without success but I have come across these on eBay but the price seems really cheap at £26.99 for two including delivery.
Anyone bought or used one, are they really light and flimsy?

I bought 4 similar ones from screwfix to weld some large angle iron frames on. I'm not too keen on working on the floor anymore.

Out of the box they did seem a bit flimsy but they worked ok and took a bit of abuse without collapsing.
I think they were rated for 250kg each.

they are ok if on stable ground if not its better to have the bottom bar on them however not allways the case

note get 3 per 16ft of builders plank as the weight can be spread along the boards much better

They look better than the usual braced Inverted 'T' design type. And a wider foot print

As said solid level ground is a must

I may invest in a pair and modify them as a motorcycle work bench, cut them down to about 600mm high and fix a couple of scaffold boards side by side to the top?.

They look exactly like the Aldi or Lidl Workzone ones except different colour. I think paid £14.99 each for them.
A pair of them are excellent as work trestles, capable of taking 200kg IF WELL BALANCED AND DISPERSED.
As trestles to work off they are rather lightweight, but I have used them for that purpose, but only as c.2 metre platform.
As builder's trestles used as an access I would be worried about standing them on anything other than flat, level solid ground.
I would not use them at anything other than 1st or 2nd height setting.

These are horrible to use. Have you searched for 'bandstands' another name for trestles?

I already have 5 heavy duty ones so I will favour those and use the 2 new ones as the intermediates.

I'm 2 courses above from when this picture was taken, the plan is to get up to first floor joists level, put the joists in with a temporary floor then work off that to get to the eaves.
The inner leaf will go in once the ground floor slab has been laid as I need to screed off the the inner leaf at DPC level.

would it be economical to Hire "proper" builders ones from a tool hire company-- just a thought, but guard rails and height and legalities all jump to mind--regulations . !!!

I did the trestles with joists between them to fly up a few courses from ground level building the house but your well past that stage.
Cheap scaffold tower time, you can get them for a few hundred quid now and you'll never regret owning one.

I have a pal who has enough knock together scaffolding to go right round the building but I hate borrowing stuff plus it would take me at least a day to get it all up there and erected, I only need to do about 3 more courses and I'm at joist level.

Scaffolding will be A LOT safer. If you don't want borrow, then ring around a few companies for the best deal.

1 fall could end up the wrong way...
