only just bought it. its three year old with only 200 hours on the weld clock.
Welding steel ranging from 6mm to 10mm.
running on 1mm wire with Ag-82% CO2-12% O2-2% welding gas,... so have selcted the Ag-90 CO2-10 option on the display. (closest match)
should i be using 1.2mm wire?
making a large agricultural shed so needs to have good penetration on the base plates when i come to them. 10mm steels on 15mm base plates.
i am not used to the automation on the beast ....... is it as simple as it makes out. if your welding 10mm just put it on 10mm setting?
i am paranoid of not getting good penertration, are the settings reliable?
currently when welding 10mm steel the welder does not sound to be in spray transfer still quite crackerly.....could this be caused by a slight film of rust on the I beams? or just not at the point of spray transfer?
The 10mm setting on 1.0mm wire should be giving more than enough voltage to be in Spray arc, however, maybe you have a little too much wire, which is what is causing the crackling noise.
You can reduce the wirefeed speed slightly, by turning the knob on the right hand side.
It first should be set at zero (so that the green LED is in the middle) then you adjust it to the right or left (increase wire speed/decrease wire speed respectively) to suit your local conditions (gas mix/wire batch/personal preference etc)
