cabinet glass

For ages now i've been thinking of a better way of protecting the glass on my blast cabinet. i could get plastic sheet from work that they threw away but that's finnished now. i bought a roll of clear plastic and cut it into pieces to fit under the glass but i got a better idea now all i do is open the two clamps to loosen the glass pull the plastic through to give me a new clear piece of sheet then clamp the glass back down and cut the bad bit off. changing the sheet now takes about 30 seconds. hard to see but the plastic is under the glass. the mesh under the clamps are vents to let air in there are gauze under the mesh to let air in but not let the media out

just plastic sheet. i got it from a packaging supplies. 50metres gives me 200 screens

I was thinking along those lines myself, but I like the clamps, I'll probably copy that idea!

Anglo Scott abrasives sell clear sheet on the roll for protecting helmet visors. I've used clear sheet designed for protecting books, but it's not optically clear.

i got it from D&M Packaging. someone on here has mentioned it before. the plastic is 500mm wide and the glass is 560mm wide.

It is not quite finnished yet. i'm going to put a cover over the roll. i just thought i would show a pic of it before i cover it up

can't see in the pic but the roll is on a piece of 25mm pipe with angle bolted at both ends. worked out quite well as the bolts secure two bulkhead lights inside

The clamps are called toggle clamps

I like it. Its a very similar idea to the fancy film type motorcross goggles that wind off the mucky bit.
