Hello everyone
I'm a novice, just starting out, and new to the forum.
I've got 20 years experience spannering on old cars, but none with oxy acetylene.
My question is - can someone recommend a good UK brand of mid-range oxy acetylene set-up?
I can't find any opinions on-line on UK sites for some reason. All the recommendations are from US sites, and everyone talks about Victor, Harris and Smith. I've no objection to overseas brands in principle, but I want good availability of spares, after-sales advice, and no issues with compatibility, so I'm hoping for a UK manufacturer, or at least one who's whole range is available over here.
Are there any recommendations for a UK made good quality set-up? Or an overseas make that has a good supply network in the UK? I have bought an entry level kit from a welding supplies outlet made by SWP and given it a go. Like I said, no previous experience of oxy acetylene, but based on my experience of the feel of tools in the hand (which I admit may not be relevant here), the feel of the valves, etc, is pretty coarse, and the overall finish seems cheap and nasty. No doubt it will be fine for now, but I suspect I will be wanting something better as I get more experienced and use the torch more.
Any advice from the forum would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Niel
