Can you help me identify this compressor?

Hi,

As you've no doubt guessed from the subject line, I'd like help identifying this compressor. In fact I suppose I really just want to know it's specifications and suitability for painting a car. I've attached a few pictures - I can take more if that'll help. I picked it up 2nd hand for very little, and I'm assured it's in working order, but otherwise I know nothing about it.

(One pic has a plate with what I assume are specifications on it, and the manufacturer's name, which you can only half make out in the pictures, is Motivair.)

I think Motivair are/were just a distributor of compressors. That looks like an old Broomwade to me, twin cylinder pump, motor looks around 3 HP, so possibly about 10 to 14 CFM.

I used to have one just like it. The motor burned out one day as it had a dodgy capacitor, and the only one I had to replace it was a big old low rpm jobbie. Took ages to get up to pressure, but it seemed to be a good old plodder that went on forever.

Nice machine really - wish I'd never got rid of it now...

Great-thanks for the info so far. I'm just wondering how I can verify the specs. Does the metal plate give any indication of the machine's power? And assuming it is around 3hp, would that be up to doing a good job of painting a car?

I would go along with the above as being a Broomwade, something like an AC10 or H10, 2hp motor, giving you around 9.3 cfm displacement,6.6cfm FAD@80psi. when new.

no probs with compression fittings wheres the nut and bolt disapeared to of the motor and its not wired up

its in the process of being 3 phased, bit of a reverse of what everyone else seems to want
also some tarting up
