Can't weld for toffee but...

Hi Everybody,

I'm building up a steel '32 Ford body to replace a fibreglass one.
I have to make all the subrails and inner framing by hand and really will need some pointers and advice from time to time regarding welding, tools and accessories etc.

I am a Signwriter by trade, so all this heat, involuntary self ignition, pain and expense is fairly new to me. (hard to damage yourself with a furry ended stick)

I have at the moment a Clarke MIG 151TE with annoying wheels, using a mid sized argoshield bottle with pipe adaptor, a Full size (for now) Oxy-Acetylene rig (Portapak), Miller auto dark (The Joker) hat, etc etc....oh and some nice flame/heat resistant overalls (very important for me)

Hiya and welcome, Ian.

I`m sure I speak for many, in saying we`d love to see some pictures of your '32' project. (we all like pics.!)

We all suffer at the hands of the 'flammability thing'; someone once told me I`d develop asbestos fingers....but, I`m still waiting!

This is the glass body though, the steel one will be coloured silver with a blue nose like the P51 mustang sqn.

That's one of my 3 cats, Johnny Cash, he thinks fishtail ends are made of fish.
