Capacitor Replacement

Believe I need to replace the capacitor on my compressor, as it struggles to start, and falters when running at times.

Currently installed, on a 3hp Ingersoll Rand Type 30, is the following capacitor;

GEOFARAD
SNZ-K 60 118 480
uF 80 +- 5%b
V~ 400
V- 450 1440/50
50HZ -25/70°c
MK 06/88
MADE IN ITALY

Not knowing a great deal about what I can replace it with, is the general reason for this post.

Should I be replacing with something exactly the same, 400V? or 450V?

It is marked 400V AC and 450V DC. Any cap 400V or higher will do.

Yes, 400V AC and 450V DC.

Start, Start/Run or Run is the next question? Or isn't that relevant?

Just make sure that it is fully discharged before handling it - they can give you a fair old belt!

There are two important values, as has been said 400volt or higher is fine, but it also has to be 80uf

Just to drag this one back up.

I've got an extractor fan that has started to become lazy, after a short period of time it will lose power and slow, then grind to a halt shortly after this. Thinking that this is a capacitor related issue, I've stripped the capacitor from the unit in order to get a replacement.

The minor problem that I've come across is that it is printed with three different voltages. 400V A, 450V B, 500V D. The 12.5uF isn't a problem at all, there seem to be a variety available. The voltage however, which should I be replacing? 400V as a minimum, or 500V?

The 3 ratings would be different use situations (one may be DC.)

use what you can get, anything 400V or higher will do. A higher voltage will probably last longer.

They're all AC, or that's whats printed on it anyway. Made in Italy too.

I'll see what the highest voltage I can get is, hopefully from the same supplier too..

Strange, how many terminals has it got? sounds like something to do with 3 phase

Its a pre-wired capacitor, only 2 wires coming from it too. Definitely from a single phase motor.

ive got a old ingersoll rand upright that needs a new cap i have no idear or info fom it have we got same unit?
