It appears copper onto steel.
I have modified my ancient sykes vice one to a portable one by welding nuts onto it in various angles to take a 10mm thread grinder handle, and use it with my makita impact wrenchyou use a proper vice mounted tool,
It shouldn't be copper, should be copper nickel as copper will work harden and crack. Check what they used.
Hi guys after some advice. Car garage made this repair on a brake pipe, then passed its mot. 47 miles later full brake failure at 70mph all fluid had been lost through this joint! It appears copper onto steel. Is this an acceptable repair?
it,s very hard to get a proper end on steel pipes unless you use a proper vice mounted tool, obviously you cant use a vice mounted one in such a space and therefore get a good end.

I think you will find most of the garages use copper, I understand it's illegal in the states, this was mentioned in a previous post.Ah I thought it was illegal to use copper. Copper is not good as it work hardens and probably why it failed, steel also not good as it rusts.
I'm sick of hearing copper cant be used and all the horror stories about itclipped properly and there's no problem .its used on steam boilers and engines @150psi pressure no problem
have u ever seen steam let go at 150 psiClipped properly its ok, but brake lines can go over 2000psi.
