car wheel stands

hi everyone,
i would like to make some stands to go under the wheels of my car so that i can work on the floor but the car is resting on its own wheels as intended.
ive done a quick google and seen people use wooden battens to make some but i would prefer to make some out of steel so its a bit lighter.
something that resembles the back half of roll on ramps.
anyone have any recomendations on designs or ideas?

something like these would be awesome but im worried about the risk of the car falling off it theres not much of a lip, plus what would happen if the fronts allready up on stands and you try and jack the rear could the jack pull the front off the stands.

There has been a few sets built on this forum, one was made with laser cut plate, the other I remember being painted red.

I've got a pair of ramps that the sloping aspect is detachable so you are left with just the raised platform under the wheel. Very useful.

Hi, I don't use ramps because they are such a pain, I usually just jack the car up and slide some spare steel wheel rims under the cars wheel and let it down again. The wheel has a large footprint at least 13" and the car wheel will naturally will sit in the dish and won't roll out/off. If you want to be able to drive up then just make a 'ladder' that hooks on the rim to drive onto it. If you want more height then put another wheel rim on the first. It's best if they're different sizes, say 14" on top of a 15".

James, Jenga block style wheel blocks work well.

If you're prepared to unbolt the wheels then one idea would be get some old disc brakes and weld a frame to them and bolt them up to the car's discs.
