I'm looking at upgrading to a better AC TIG welder this year. I currently have a TIGarc (WTL Magic AC I think is the OEM) 200amp AC/DC TIG that I'm looking to upgrade this year to either a CEA or Kemppi. The WTL is a pretty decent machine on DC and really good running MMA. Its ok for AC but not as good as other machines I've tried recently and am now ready to upgrade as my brother wants my TIGarc for his workshop so its a perfect excuse to upgrade.
I have used a few different Kemppi MIG welders over the years and always found they were great machine though never owned one myself. I have never used a CEA machine before but have always heard good feedback from people who I knew that used them. At this point I am kind of leaning towards the Matrix X220 as it seems well price, I have been quoted about 5.5k NZD plus tax (a bit under 3k euro plus tax) and has a five year warranty vs Kemppi 3 years.
If I go for a Kemppi I was looking more towards the Mastertig 235 but I like the idea of the weld cleaning function in the minarc T223 as I don't have an electric weld cleaner, though wasn't really looking to get one. Also I think the minarc will be a bit cheaper than the Mastertig. I don't have a finale quote yet but I think the Kemppi will be at least 2K more than the CEA for the minarc.
Anyone have any feedback on any of the above machines? I feel like either brand should be good quality and last a long time if taken care of, both seem to have good parts and schematics availability.
