Cebora 130 gas solenoid wiring

Hello all,

I've had my welder for a fair few years now and its gradually got a bit shabby so I decided to do a Eurotorch conversion to it. I've got the wire feed working fine but am having trouble with the gas solenoid.

It's a 42v AC solenoid which the way I have it wired in now is constantly on when the power is on, not switched with the trigger. I have one wire going to the thick trigger wire linked to the rectifier and one wire going to the top connection on the rectifier.

Where have I gone wrong with it?

if its the actual wire to the trigger its probably seeing 12 or 24 volts from the pcb transformer, so you would need to wire it to the opposite wire so it switches, sound as though you have it to the permanent live

Its not the actual thin blue wire from the trigger but the thick black wire that goes from the rectifier to the brass tail.

There are 3 wires connected to the rectifier. 2 are from the transformer and 1 goes to the torch. I have one side of the solenoid connected to the top wire which comes from. the transformer and the other side of the solenoid goes to the bottom wire which goes to the brass tail.

it still must be getting power from the pcb transformer as the welding transformer should not be powered until you pull the trigger you may be better off connecting it to the coil feed on the relay only problem is your solenoid is 42 volts

you will either have use the voltage from the pcb relay (if its powerful enough) or fit an auxiliary transformer to run it, the solenoid you have is an odd voltage you could have done with a 240v or 12 / 24 whichever the relay uses on your machine

you could buy a 240v and simply connect it to the feed to the welding transformer

Thanks for all your help. I've used a 220v solenoid and got it all working now. The welder seems a lot more powerful now I've cleaned a few contacts up
