From the linked thread in RonA's post, it looks like the mains power goes first to a double-pole switch, then an indicator light, then the fan. Does the light come on when you switch on? Have you tried to rotate the fan by hand, to check if it is physically stuck and to "help" it spin up?

The ON light is contained within the ON/OFF switch
